he's ready

This little bébé is feeling ready to eat! The signs are clear:

(para bang rugby sniffer?) ;-)

So we tried! He politely dribbled mashed potato down his chin, and loooved ripe banana.

We aren't feeding him regularly yet, but hope to do so starting from when we're in Taiwan. For now, he's content to chew on his little yellow spoon while we're having dinner :)

High Chair Happiness! (and mama's boink)

The little one gets high on the new high chair! He loooves sitting up all-by-himself!

Weeeell actually it's not new at all. I found it at a rummage sale (see puppy-chewed leg in the photos above). Peu importe, dit Julien :)

Also new! Julien's current game is "dropping".  Give him a toy, he'll drop it, hand it back, he'll drop it again, over and over ad infinitum. To wit:

Well he does get sick of it and demand to be held after awhile!

Last bit of news! Yesterday my klutzy genes expressed themselves again and I boinked my head on the typhoon shutters outside our front window. Thank goodness I wasn't holding the baby! It immediately hurt like hell, then a minute later red red blood went drip-drip-dripping on our doorstep. Those shutters have damn sharp edges!!! I had a 2 cm long gash and ended up needing three (very expensive!) stitches. Boooooo. I won't post a gory closeup, but here's a tasteful faraway shot of my bald spot the post-op morning. Julien, when you're bigger stay away from those killer shutters ya hear???

Doncha worry folks, the stitches don't hurt anymore and they'll be taken out in a week : )

Climb that mountain, baby!

I suppose baby mammals can't help being fixated on their mums' mammaries

Mammaries are also the best place to fall asleep, ideally with one hand clutching said boob protectively

Out N About

Yes yes, we do get to go out for fun! Here's an assortment of shots from our forays and adventures.

Pardon the repetitive photos, someone thought the light made her look exceptionally good that day, hehe.

Jimmy being a poser again

Waiter!!

 "No pizza for you!"
"WaaaaAAAAhhh!!!"

Halloween party: Punai as a cow (with bandaids, since he just had 4 shots at the clinic, awww).

Stop drooling!

Yesterday was a very important day for Aga -- he turned 4 months old! Actually, we parents didn't even know that 4 months was a big event for Taiwanese babies, but in A-mah's monthly recorded message she explained the whole thing to us: at the fourth month, we should celebrate the "Stop Drooling Ceremony"!!! She instructed us to get 12 or 24 cakes with holes in them, thread them through a red string, and hang the cakes around Aga's neck. Then we are to go to our neighbors, who should each take a sweet from the string and give a good wish to the baby. It's called the "stop drooling" ceremony because afterwards the baby is supposed to quit dribbling saliva all over himself and grow up quickly.

Sounds fun! But.. but.... Jimmy failed to listed to A-mah's message 'til the evening. Oh no! No time to prepare! Where would we find cakes with holes??? We rushed to the nearby store, and got gummy candy lifesavers instead. And since I only had orange string, we used that instead of red. Then off we rushed to our nice neighbors, and were lucky to catch them before they went to bed!

Here we go!

First stop: Frances' home!

Austin's turn

Haha, Frances introduced a new twist to a Taiwanese tradition: the well-wishers need to kiss and smell Aga's feet as well! Here goes Austin

 And Jonathan

Austin can't help himself, he wants more!

Whaaaat's all the fuss about, Aga wonders (actually you can't see it, but he's totally grabbing the candies here)

Off we go to Anne and Ray's!

And wow, even got an awesome new book! Thanks Anne!!!

(Today's update:  Aga's STILL drooling. Hehe)
